Step One

Listen up folks.

2021? It was a big year. The world was always shifting, the times were continuously unpr*cidented, and honestly? My life went a bit haywire.

Back in August 2021, I wrote a little note to myself which I shared on medium. It was a realization: when we write, we create a narrative of our own. We write for ourselves.

Buried in this note was a promise.

“I hope in the coming articles on this site I can share some of the things I have been wanting to share with the world for some time. From the inequity of tree coverage, the climate movement, grassroots corporate organization, and the necessity that our world evolves, I have a lot of information that I get to learn every week.

I hope I can share some of that knowledge with literally anyone who will listen.”

This December 2021, I officially became a “whistleblower” of SpaceX. I penned a deeply personal essay dedicated to the marginalized people who have silently healed from their own attempts to advocated for themselves. Honestly? Even if it is public, I still feel nervous even mentioning that I did that.

But despite these nerves— I have pride in knowing this was a hope worth having back in August. One that, out of all of what we hoped for last year, really came true/

Since sharing this story, a few things happened. I heard from many people all over the country, from Florida to California. Friends from my past reached out. Women and people in engineering who I dearly respect as a professional told me their experiences or shared how deeply they can empathize.

I saw young college students on instagram and tiktok sharing their experiences, standing with me, and saying “This is going to change”.

I’ve been moved by the action that has resulted in the few weeks since this was published. And I will never fully be able to thank people the way I wish I could for the ways the have stepped forward to support my visions for an equitable Earth and interplanetary travel.

I created a narrative for 2021 and I intend to do the same moving forward. I believe that there is great power in the way we are able to use our voices, and have our actions match our words.

When most of the power in this world is rooted within the net worth of the people leading us, our integrity and voices are the only opportunities we have to influence change.

So how will I get started?

  1. I will fix my sleep schedule. As the old proverb goes, gorgeous gorgeous girls have a dependable sleep routine
  2. I will plot out the major milestones of my year. This includes the vacations and backup plans for when covid and climate change ruin our vacation plans again.
  3. I’m going to be a good teammate.

I’ll keep ya in the loop.
